The widely anticipated 2nd Copa Turismo Basketball tournament was held from December 4th to the 10th at the Pedrín Zorrilla coliseito in Hato Rey. Sixteen teams including Doubletree by Hilton, Empresas Santana, Casino del Mar, Casino del Sol, El San Juan Hotel, Conrad Condado Plaza Hotel, San Juan Marriott, La Concha Resort, St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Verdanza Hotel, Sheraton PR Convention Center, El Conquistador Resort, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, InterContinental San Juan Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, Isla Verde and Hotel El Convento all vied for the coveted Copa Turismo Trophy.
After a week of great competition the teams from the El Conquistador, the El San Juan Hotel, the Doubletree by Hilton and the Verdanza Hotel reached the semi-finals on Saturday, December 10th. In the championship game, the team from the El San Juan Hotel once again demonstrated their athletic prowess and good teamwork to capture the Copa Turismo Trophy. In second place was the team from El Conquistador and in third place the team from the Doubletree by Hilton.
After the final game, tournament organizer Omar Hoyos presented the trophies. It was a great tournament and the teams are looking forward to the next Copa Turismo Basketball tournament.
