Omar is a graduate of the Hotel and Restaurant Administration program at UPR, Carolina campus. He worked for four years at the Caribe Hilton as housekeeping supervisor, night supervisor, front desk supervisor and night manager before beginning his Master’s degree studies at Florida International University in 1997. Upon graduation from FIU, Omar returned to the island and continued working with the Caribe Hilton.
In 1999, Omar was offered a position as a full-time professor at the International School of Hospitality Management at Universidad del Este becoming the first full-time faculty member. In July 2003, Omar was named Dean of the program, a position he still holds today.
Omar is very active in the community and is on the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Studies. He is also pursuing his Doctorate at Oklahoma State University.
