Luis graduated from the hotel and restaurant administration program at the UPR, Carolina in 2002 and in 2006 he became the youngest full-time professor at the University.
While studying at the UPR for his Bachelor’s degree, Luis worked full-time at the Banker’s Club accounting department in Hato Rey. In May 2004, Luis began his Master’s degree studies in hotel administration at Florida International University (FIU).
In 2005 while still a student at FIU Luis accepted a job at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables as a front office agent. After only six months on the job, Luis was promoted to front office supervisor where he worked until his return to Puerto Rico in December 2006.
Luis has continued to be active in the Pan American Federation of Hotel, Gastronomic and Tourism Schools and has been the President of the Student Council. Luis is planning to continue his education in the doctorate program at Universidad de Islas Baleares, Mallorca Island Spain. Luis is the Alumni Representative on the Board of Directors of the Scholarship Foundation for Hotel & Tourism Studies and has been very active in organizing the alumni, developing a Facebook page and helping with the fund raising activities of the Foundation.
